چکیده

An extended reduced order model is presented and applied to analyze global and regional oscillations in BWRs. Stability and semianalytical bifurcation analyses are performed using this model in conjunction with the bifurcation code BIFDD to determine the stability limits for both in-phase and out-of-phase oscillation modes and the nature of Poincaré–Andronov–Hopf bifurcation. The results obtained show that both suband supercritical PAH bifurcations are encountered in different regions of the parameter space. An in-depth investigation of the properties of the elements of the eigenvectors associated with these two modes of oscillation is carried out. Results show that these eigenvectors provide information as regards the corresponding oscillation mode (in-phase or out-of-phase) without solving the set of system ODEs. The analysis clearly brings out the fact that in-phase and out-of-phase oscillations are wholesystem mechanisms. A clear distinction is thereby made between these oscillation modes, on the one hand, and the fundamental and first azimuthal neutronics modes on the other hand. 2007 Published by Elsevier Ltd.

Advanced Bwr Stability Analysis with a Reduced Order Model and System Code

The solution manifold of the system of nonlinear differential equations representing a BWR needs to be examined to understand its dynamical behavior. In particular, stable or unstable fixed points and stable or unstable oscillatory solutions (or turning points/saddle node bifurcations) are of paramount interest. In this framework integrated BWR (system) codes and simplified BWR models (reduced ...

Semi-Analytical bifurcation Analysis of Two-Phase Flow in a Heated Channel

Using a drift flux representation for the two-phase flow, a new reduced order model has been developed to simulate density-wave oscillations (DWOs) in a heated channel. This model is then used to perform stability and semi-analytical bifurcation analysis, using the bifurcation code BIFDD, in which the stability boundary (SB) and the nature of Hopf bifurcation are determined in a suitable two-di...

Understanding and modeling of three-phase transient flow in gas-condensate wells play a vital role in designing and optimizing dynamic kill procedure of each well that needs to capture the discontinuities in density, geometry, and velocity of phases but also the effect of temperature on such parameters. In this study, two-phase Advection-Upstream-Splitting-Method (AUSMV) hybrid scheme is extend...
